My thesis topic was The effect of proximity between barely visible impact damage sites in metallic honeycomb sandwich panels.
The topic examines numerical and experimental compression after-impact (CAI) testing of honeycomb sandwich panels subjected to low-velocity impact damage. The research combines numerical simulations of CAI testing using LS-DYNA with experimental CAI testing using a compression testing machine fitted with a digital image correlation system, allowing me to compare full-field displacements and strains.
